What effect will increasing oil prices have on energy mutual funds?
Question by Chief: What effect will increasing oil prices have on energy mutual funds?
Best answer:
Answer by Lawrence E
My answer is a positive effect. But the real question you have to ask yourself is whether or not physical crude is going to run up, or settle down. Because if it settles, the net effect on energy mutual funds becomes negative.

Summary:
• “Less-bad” indicators suggest the worst of the recession is over, boosting risk appetite and helping small-cap stocks to rally more than 50% from March lows, which SEI believes will prove to have marked the trough of the bear market.
• The dramatic recovery in share prices, while fairly extreme by historical standards, is not out of line for the early stages of a bear-market rebound, and SEI believes it is correctly anticipating an economic recovery.
Indian Regulator Abolishes Mutual Fund Entrey Fees
The regulatory diktat of abolishing entry fee for mutual funds has received a good coverage in the financial media and blogosphere. Almost in all of the news coverage, it has been hailed as a beneficial to individual investors. Many financial and personal bloggers have also published individual post explaining how and why it will be good for individual investors. This was a typical example of herd mentality – everybody saying good so it is good. I am surprised that personal finance folks are also providing one sided opinion.
I found only one article by Shewta, at PersonalMoney.in, which provides a balanced analysis on the impact it may have on various players. I am taking this one step further to provide my understanding and implication on individual investors.
